Peter, Susan, Edmund und Lucy kommen in das Haus von Professor Kirke. In dem aufregenden, großen Haus befindet sich ein alter Wandschrank, der genügend Platz zum Verstecken spielen, bietet. Zu Lucys Erstaunen ist dieser Schrank das Tor in eine andere Welt. Dort findet sie sich in einer märchenhaften Winterlandschaft wieder und trifft auf einen Faun. Dieser erklärt ihr, dass sie im Königreich Narnia gelandet ist. Hier herrscht seit langer Zeit Winter, denn die böse Weiße Hexe hat das ganze Land mit einem Bann belegt.
